Opera has just released version 33 of its product, and since a lot of interesting things have happened with the web browser as well as the company, I've decided to give you a heads up about all the important changes. Opera's product manager, Zhenis Beisekov, was also kind enough to give an interview which you will find below along with a chance to take part in a special competition and win a brand new MacBook Air. But let's not get ahead of ourselves and first talk about company rebranding and watch some interesting videos.

Rebranding and a new logo

Opera's services are used by over 350 million people all over the world, so another important thing to mention is that the company, as well as the web browser itself, have recently gone through a rebranding process. Under the motto Do more with the new "O", the business has changed its name from "Opera Software" into simply "Opera" (find out why in the next chapter), as well as modified its logo into a three-dimensional "O". According to the company's statement, the new design "symbolizes a gateway that leads you to more: more content, more discoveries, more answers, more communication, more fun, more data savings, more of life - whatever you seek online, Opera helps you do more!". The results we all see today were achieved with the help of two independent companies: U.K.-based DixonBaxi (in charge of defining the global brand) and Norway-based Anti (that helped create the visual identity).

The new logo can now be seen on Opera products everywhere, including the browsers' shortcuts, name bar, menu button or taskbar button and it's available across all platforms. Additionally, the company has better established the identity of its products by creating customized logo designs for all three versions of the browser. As you can see in the image, the mainstream Opera build has a fully red "O", the beta version has a part red, part white design while the developer's build sports a fully white logo.

Interview

When I mentioned goodies in the tile, I wasn't just talking about the novelties that Opera 33 has brought. Zhenis Beisekov, Opera's Product Manager has also been kind enough to give us an exclusive video interview. Mr. Beisekov told us that the main reason behind the name change was the fact that the company he represents creates much more than just software, so "Opera" is a simpler, better way of telling the world about their products. Furthermore, he gave us a quick overview of Opera 33, stating that this latest version of the web browser will introduce the new, restyled brand, emphasizing all of the features that the company offers. Lastly, Opera's product manager gave us a few more details about the web browser, but you will have to watch the video and see (or hear) them for yourself.
